This past weekend a former student of mine was assaulted by multiple attackers while he was leaving a casino. Here is the story and a picture of what happened.
In the early morning hours of September 24, 2011, I was at an Indian casino with some friends for a bachelor party, I left early to walk back to our place and was approached by a group of guys asking if "i won any money in there?" I knew it was trouble. told them "I wasn't gambling" and one said "yeah we'll see about that". They came at me like they were out for blood.
Basically they all mobbed me. I put my hands up and used all the distance keeping techniques you taught me. The Shield entry to clinch, jabs, front kicks, that side knee kick thing. One got inside on me and I wrapped him up and took him down. My intention was to jump right back up, but thats when I got booted between the eyes.
Suppose that was my mistake, should've just dumped him and stayed up on my feet more. Caught one guy with a good head butt. I took some blows, but never went unconcious and they ran off without getting my wallet or anything, so I suppose i'll count it as a victory.
The greatest benefit to spending so much time in your class, I believe, was being able to keep a cool head and quickly revert to my training, all that repetition really paid off. I’m sure that without my training I would have been beaten unconscious or worse. A big thanks to you and all your top-notch instructors, things would have been a lot worse for me without you guys. Stay on top of your self-defense!
We're so glad you are okay Parker. Wishing you a speedy recovery from everyone at Relson Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Team HK.
